As I reflect on the privilege and the joy of being your pastor for the last seven years, I cannot begin to count the ways in which all of you have been Christ to me. Celebrating God’s love in our faith community has been a blessing to me. If it’s presiding at a sacrament, working with servant leaders, or meeting with parishioners, we are the heart of parish life today. We are incredibly blessed to meet the sacramental commitments of all our parishioners through our Liturgy and our Faith Formation programs through our youth and adult faith formation. Our love and support of one another in our faith community is a direct reflection of God’s love.
Over the past seven years our parish has seen expansion in our faith community. In addition, with growth to the surrounding Black Forest area, Our Lady of the Pines is a rapidly growing Catholic Church in the Colorado Springs Dioceses that will soon be near the epicenter of where the city meets the forest. This is an exciting time at Our Lady of the Pines but growth does not come without pain. Like those first parishioners who established Our Lady of the Pines, we must continue with their legacy of hospitality, faith, and building a better future for a faith community. Which is why we are asking you to “Come Journey with Us: Our Family, Our Faith, Our Future”. The purpose of this journey is to educate our parish community on future needs. We need to be prepared for the expansion coming to Black Forest and embrace all these new faith members with open arms and hospitality, therefore providing them an opportunity to become a part of our parish family and to grow in their faith. To meet our future evangelization and faith formation programs, we need to realize our vision of building the Parish Life Center meet the commitments of our growing programs and expand the Church. To realize this vision, we must
- Eliminate our present debt.
- Raise the ½ of the cost of the Parish Life Center
- Continue to share the Gospel message
With a goal of eliminating our debt first, then raising additional capital for the next expansion, we will hopefully be in better financial shape because of the expected growth of our parishioner base.
At this time, I ask that you pray and reflect on joining me in this new journey to help reduce the debt of Our Lady of the Pines and look to expand our faith community facilities. I appreciate all your support spiritually and financially over the past years and with your help we can continue to welcome and support the new families coming to our area. We have been blessed with growth at Our Lady of the Pines and with your financial commitment to this new journey; we can continue to meet the spiritual needs of our parish family. A response card has been included if you would like to make a commitment monthly or a one-time gift. Thank you in advance for your generous contribution and your continued prayers for our faith community.
Our Lady of the Pines provides Liturgy and Faith Formation programs to the Black Forest community and will expand these programs to meet the needs of the changing demographic population while honoring the spirit of our past community. Without the support of parish members like you, we would not be able to meet these future needs and continue our mission To Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples. I am confident that as a faith family we are up to this next adventure which is why I am asking each and every one of you to “Come Journey with Us: Our Family, Our Faith, Our Future. “ Thank you for your continued support of our community. Let us remember each other in prayer. If you have any prayer intention(s) you wish me to pray for, please include them in the return envelope. May God bless you and your loved ones.
In Christ’s Amazing Love,
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8:
